Winds: No audition is required for woodwind and brass players with high school experience. VSU will provide mellophones, marching baritones, sousaphones, percussion instruments, and some piccolos. Flute players are encouraged to play piccolo. All other students must provide their own instrument. Instrument sections that have split parts (i.e. 1st trumpet and 2nd trumpet) will play for their respective section leader(s) to be placed on the most appropriate part.
